Over the past few weeks we’ve been sharing individual Provence scenes on our social channels — a lavender field in full bloom, a turquoise bay framed by pine trees, an olive grove in warm afternoon light. Today we’re happy to share the next step: those scenes are now part of a complete Sphaeres VR Experience.
Provence 360° is a new 12-minute immersive relaxation experience made up of 23 carefully curated scenes from across southern France. Lavender fields and olive groves, the vivid ochre trails near Roussillon, the quiet courtyard of a centuries-old abbey, wide hilltop views over the Luberon valley, and the turquoise bays of the Mediterranean coast — all edited into a single continuous journey, accompanied by a specially composed piano score and the natural sounds of each location: cicadas in the olive groves, wind in the pines, water along the coast.
It’s a calm, immersive escape into the light and warmth of southern France — and it’s available now for B2B licensing.
A region shaped by light
Provence has a quality of light that’s hard to describe until you’ve stood in it. It’s warm without being harsh, clear without being cold, and it changes slowly through the day in a way that makes you want to slow down with it. That’s what we wanted to capture in this experience — not just the famous landmarks, but the feeling of being there. The golden hour on a hillside above a wide valley. The cool shade of an old olive tree. The stillness of a village square at midday when everyone has retreated indoors. The moment when the sun drops below the horizon and the landscape turns into soft silhouettes and warm sky.
The 23 scenes were chosen to take the viewer through that range — from the drama of lavender fields and ochre cliffs to the quiet of abbey courtyards and pine valleys. Each scene is static, giving the viewer time to look around, notice details, and settle into the place at their own pace.
Designed for comfort in longer sessions
This experience was made with B2B end-users in mind — patients in healthcare settings, residents in senior care facilities, employees in corporate wellness programmes, veterans in therapy contexts. That means every creative decision was weighed against one question: will this be comfortable for someone using it for the full 12 minutes?
Three things matter most in this context:
Static scenes, no camera movement. Moving cameras in 360° video are a known trigger for motion sickness, especially in longer sessions. Every scene in Provence 360° is shot from a fixed position, which means the viewer’s inner ear and visual system stay in sync throughout.
No aerial shots, no viewpoints near sheer drops. Heights are a common anxiety trigger — even for people who don’t consider themselves afraid of heights in everyday life, a 360° viewpoint at the edge of a cliff can cause unease. We deliberately avoided these shots entirely. Every viewpoint in the experience is comfortably grounded.
2D 360° rather than stereoscopic 3D. Stereoscopic 3D 360° sounds more immersive on paper, but it introduces visual disparities, flares and parallax shifts between the eyes that can cause headaches and eye strain in longer sessions — exactly what a relaxation experience must avoid. We deliberately produce in 2D 360° because it delivers a consistently comfortable viewing experience, session after session.
None of this is visible in the final experience. But it’s the difference between a VR experience that leaves the viewer relaxed and one that leaves them needing to take the headset off.
The craft behind each scene
Each of the 23 scenes goes through an extensive post-production pipeline: individual stitching, jitter and horizon correction, tripod and artefact removal, noise reduction, and reference-monitor colour grading. The same care goes into the sound design, drawing on years of professional nature sound recording experience.
The piano score was composed specifically for this experience — gentle and uplifting without ever becoming intrusive — and layered with natural ambient sounds recorded on location. The result is 12 minutes of calm, warmth and light that invites the viewer to leave everything else behind.
